Investment: £200

Life & Wellbeing Audit Overview

The 8Wise Life & Wellbeing Audit is a structured 1:1 session designed to help you step back and understand what is happening across your life.

8Wise Neurodivergent Programme - 1 to 1

For many neurodivergent individuals, especially those navigating a late-life ADHD or Autism diagnosis, the greatest source of overwhelm isn't just "life"; it’s the exhaustion of trying to function in a world not built for how they think. Understanding 8Wise

The 8Wise Method is built on the idea that wellbeing becomes easier to manage when you understand how different parts of life connect. This section explains the foundations of 8Wise, what it is, who it’s for, and why it works.

Here you’ll find clear answers that help you understand the eight dimensions, the psychology behind the method, and how 8Wise supports long‑term mental health and wellbeing.

What is 8Wise®?

8Wise® is a psychology-led life management approach designed to help people navigate the pressures of modern life.

The concept behind 8Wise® begins with a widely recognised statistic:

1 in 4 people will experience a mental health difficulty in any 12-month period.

This also means that 3 in 4 people are at risk of developing one when life pressures become overwhelming. The 8Wise® approach recognises that many mental health difficulties develop when pressure from stressful life events builds faster than our ability to manage it.

Events such as:

• divorce or separation

• job loss or redundancy

• career change or promotion

• illness diagnosis

• bereavement

• financial pressure

• family responsibilities

• moving house

• becoming a parent

• retirement

can place pressure across many areas of life at the same time.

8Wise® aims to provide both a prevention and recovery approach by helping people understand these pressures and manage life more wisely.

The name 8Wise® reflects the idea of becoming wise about wellbeing by understanding how life pressures affect eight key areas of life.

Who is 8Wise for?

8Wise supports people who want to better understand and manage the pressures affecting their life. People generally arrive at 8Wise through one of two motivations:

1. Life challenge

Something difficult is happening in their life and they need help navigating it.

2. Life improvement

They want to build a healthier, happier and more balanced life.

8Wise is used by three main groups:

Individuals

People looking for practical guidance when navigating life challenges or improving wellbeing.

Education settings

Schools, colleges and universities using the 8Wise approach to support staff, students and wellbeing culture.

Practitioners

Professionals such as therapists, coaches and wellbeing practitioners who use the 8Wise methodology within their own work.

What is the 8Wise® Method?

The 8Wise® Method is the structured process used to help people understand and manage life pressures.

It provides a framework for:

• understanding how life events affect wellbeing

• assessing current pressure and capacity levels

• identifying which areas of life are most affected

• implementing realistic and practical strategies to manage pressure

The method helps people step back and look at the whole picture of their life, rather than focusing on a single problem.

It can be used both for:

• navigating difficult life events

• improving overall wellbeing and life balance.

How does the 8Wise® Method work?

The 8Wise® Method works by helping people explore how pressure is affecting different areas of their life.

Life events rarely affect just one area. For example, job loss may affect:

• financial stability

• confidence

• daily structure

• relationships

• long-term plans

The method allows people to assess their current situation, understand where pressure is building, and introduce realistic strategies that improve their ability to manage those pressures.

The aim is to move people from overwhelm and confusion to clarity and practical action.

Why does 8Wise focus on life events?

Many mental health and wellbeing difficulties begin when pressure from life events becomes overwhelming. Major life experiences such as relationship changes, career transitions, financial difficulties, illness, or family responsibilities can affect multiple areas of life at once.

When pressure builds faster than a person’s capacity to manage it, wellbeing begins to decline. 8Wise® focuses on helping people navigate these life events more effectively, which helps reduce pressure and protect wellbeing.

What is the 8Wise® Model?

The 8Wise® Model is the underlying structure that supports the 8Wise Method.

At its simplest level, the model looks at life through four core domains:

• Foundation

• Internal

• External

• Lifestyle

Within these domains sit the eight dimensions of wellness that influence wellbeing.

The model helps people understand how different areas of life interact and how pressure in one area can affect others.

What are the eight dimensions in the 8Wise® Model?

The eight dimensions of wellness explored in the 8Wise® Model are:

• Emotional

• Physical

• Spiritual

• Intellectual

• Environmental

• Social

• Occupational

• Financial

Together these dimensions represent the main areas of life that influence wellbeing.

By understanding how life events affect these areas, people can make more informed decisions and manage their wellbeing more effectively.

What are 8Wise Support Systems?

The 8Wise Support Systems refer to the tools, services and resources developed to help people apply the 8Wise Method in practice.

These include:

• assessments and reflection tools

• workbooks and practical resources

• courses and educational programmes

• professional training

• organisational wellbeing support

Together these resources form the practical ecosystem that supports people using the 8Wise approach.

What is 8WiseED®?

8WiseED® is the education-specific application of the 8Wise Method.

It adapts the approach for use within schools, colleges and universities to support:

• staff wellbeing

• student wellbeing

• leadership awareness

• whole-organisation wellbeing culture

What is the 8WiseED® Framework?

The 8WiseED® Framework provides structured guidance for implementing the 8Wise approach within education settings.

It includes:

• wellbeing audits

• leadership support

• CPD training for staff

• student wellbeing education

• strategic wellbeing planning.

The aim is to help education organisations create environments where both staff and students can better manage the pressures of education and life.

Is 8Wise therapy?

No.

8Wise is not a therapy service and does not provide therapy. The 8Wise Method is an educational life-management framework designed to help people understand and manage life pressures.

However, many therapists, coaches and wellbeing practitioners choose to learn the 8Wise methodology and integrate it into their own professional practice.

Getting Started

Beginning your 8Wise journey doesn’t need to feel overwhelming. This section guides you through the first steps, from taking the 8Wise Assessment to exploring the tools, resources, and programmes available.

Whether you’re looking for a simple starting point or a structured plan, these FAQs will help you understand how to begin applying the method in everyday life.

Where should I start with 8Wise?

Most individuals begin their journey with the 8Wise® Assessment.

The assessment helps people step back and understand how current life pressures may be affecting different areas of their life across the eight dimensions within the 8Wise® Model.

For organisations and education settings, the starting point is usually an 8WiseED® Audit, which helps schools or colleges understand wellbeing pressures affecting staff, students and the wider organisational environment.

Both the assessment and audit provide a clear starting point for understanding pressure, priorities and next steps.

What is the 8Wise® Assessment?

The 8Wise® Assessment is a structured digital reflection tool designed to help people understand their current wellbeing across the eight dimensions of life explored in the 8Wise Model.

It helps people identify:

• where pressure may be building in their life

• which areas of life are most affected

• where change or support may be helpful

The assessment is not a diagnosis. Instead, it provides insight into how current life events and pressures may be influencing wellbeing.

How do I take the 8Wise® Assessment?

The 8Wise® Assessment is completed online.

You can access it here: 8Wise Assessment

The assessment takes a few minutes to complete and asks a series of questions designed to explore how current life pressures may be affecting different areas of your life.

Once completed, you will receive an immediate personalised report summarising your results across the eight dimensions of the 8Wise Model.

You will also receive a follow-up email with additional guidance and recommended resources to help you begin developing your 8Wise strategy for managing life events and improving mental health and wellbeing.

What happens after the 8Wise® Assessment?

After completing the assessment, people can begin exploring practical ways to manage the pressures affecting their life.

The results help people identify:

• which life events may be creating pressure

• which areas of life are most affected

• where practical change may be helpful

Some people continue independently using the resources within the 8Wise Support System, while others choose additional guidance through structured programmes or professional support.

What support is offered through the 8Wise Support System?

The 8Wise Support System includes the services, tools and resources developed to help people apply the 8Wise Method in practice.

These include:

• 8Wise Life Audit sessions

• 8Wise Strategy Days

• wellbeing programmes and coaching support

• published books and journals

• workbooks and reflection tools

• practical wellbeing toolkits

• the 8Wise podcast

• blogs and educational articles

• short courses and structured programmes

These resources allow people to engage with the 8Wise Method in a way that suits their current life situation and the level of support they need.

Are there courses or programmes available through 8Wise?

Yes.

8Wise provides a range of educational courses and structured programmes designed to help people apply the 8Wise Method in their own life.

These programmes focus on helping people:

• understand life pressures more clearly

• build practical life-management skills

• improve wellbeing across the eight dimensions of life

Courses are delivered in two main formats:

Live online programmes

Structured programmes delivered online at specific times during the year.

On-demand courses

Short, self-paced courses that allow people to learn and apply the 8Wise Method in their own time. These will be introduced later in the year.

If you would like to join a future programme, you can register your interest, and we will notify you when programme dates are released.

Do I need to complete the 8Wise® Assessment before joining a programme?

Completing the 8Wise® Assessment before joining a programme is strongly recommended.

The assessment helps people understand their current wellbeing across the eight dimensions of the 8Wise Model and provides useful insight into the pressures affecting their life.

This helps participants get the most value from programmes and ensures they start with a clear understanding of their current situation and priorities.

How can I apply the 8Wise® Method in everyday life?

The 8Wise® Method is designed to be practical and applied to real-life situations.

People apply the method by using the tools and resources within the 8Wise Support System, which help individuals reflect on life pressures and take practical steps to manage them more effectively.

These include:

• the 8Wise® Assessment

• life audits and strategy sessions

• workbooks and reflection tools

• practical wellbeing toolkits

• books and journals

• blogs and educational resources

• podcasts and short courses

• structured wellbeing programmes

These tools help people understand how life events affect the eight dimensions within the 8Wise Model, and support them in developing realistic strategies to manage pressure and improve wellbeing.

By regularly reflecting on these areas and using the available resources, people can begin to manage life’s challenges more thoughtfully and build healthier, more balanced lives.

Navigating Life Events

Major life events can create pressure across many areas of life at the same time.

Relationship changes, career transitions, financial challenges, health issues and family responsibilities often affect multiple parts of life simultaneously.

The 8Wise Method helps people identify the specific pressures created by these events, understand how those pressures affect different areas of life, and develop practical strategies for managing both the situation itself and its impact on mental health and wellbeing.

How can I cope with divorce or separation?

Divorce or separation often brings multiple pressures at the same time.

People commonly experience challenges such as changes in housing, financial adjustments, co-parenting arrangements, shifts in social relationships, and uncertainty about the future.

The 8Wise Method helps people identify the specific pressures created by the separation, understand how those pressures affect different areas of life, and develop practical strategies for managing the transition and rebuilding stability.

How do people manage job loss or redundancy?

Losing a job can affect much more than income.

People often experience pressures related to financial uncertainty, loss of daily routine, concerns about future career direction, and changes in confidence or identity.

The 8Wise Method helps people understand how job loss is affecting different areas of their life, allowing them to develop practical strategies for stabilising their situation and planning their next steps.

How do you adjust to a promotion at work?

A promotion can bring new opportunities but also increased responsibility and pressure.

People may experience challenges such as heavier workloads, leadership responsibilities, changes in relationships with colleagues, and concerns about meeting expectations.

The 8Wise Method helps people identify these pressures early, allowing them to develop realistic strategies that support both professional success and personal wellbeing.

How can I manage the stress of starting a business?

Starting a business can be exciting but also demanding.

New business owners often face pressures related to financial risk, workload, decision-making, long working hours and balancing business responsibilities with personal life.

The 8Wise Method helps entrepreneurs step back and assess the pressures affecting different areas of their life, enabling them to create more balanced and sustainable ways of managing their business.

How do people cope with moving house?

Moving house can disrupt routines and create pressure across several areas of life.

People may experience logistical stress, financial costs, changes in commute or schools, disruption to routines, and emotional challenges associated with leaving a familiar environment.

The 8Wise Method helps people understand the wider pressures connected to relocation, allowing them to plan and manage the transition more effectively.

How do you prepare for retirement emotionally and practically?

Retirement represents a major life transition.

Many people experience pressures related to changes in identity, daily routine, financial planning, social connections and long-term purpose.

The 8Wise Method helps people explore how retirement may affect different areas of life, supporting thoughtful preparation for this new stage.

How can people cope with an illness diagnosis?

An illness diagnosis can bring emotional uncertainty as well as practical changes to work, family life and daily routines.

People may face pressures related to treatment decisions, managing energy levels, adapting routines and navigating support systems.

The 8Wise Method helps individuals identify these pressures and develop practical strategies for managing both the health challenge and its wider impact on life.

How do people adjust to becoming a parent?

Becoming a parent is a major life transition.

New parents often experience pressures related to sleep disruption, financial changes, new responsibilities, changes in relationships and balancing work and family life.

How do parents cope when children leave home?

Financial difficulties can create pressure across many areas of life.

People may experience stress related to debt, housing stability, budgeting, family responsibilities and long-term financial security.

How do people cope with bereavement and loss?

Bereavement is one of life’s most difficult experiences.

Loss can affect emotional wellbeing, relationships, routines and future plans.

How do business owners manage business growth or expansion?

Business growth can bring increased opportunity but also greater responsibility and pressure.

Business owners may experience challenges related to leadership demands, financial risk, workload and long-term planning.

The 8Wise Method helps entrepreneurs assess the pressures associated with growth, allowing them to develop strategies that support sustainable business development and personal wellbeing.

Where should I start if I’m currently navigating one of these life events?

A good starting point is the 8Wise® Assessment.

The assessment helps people step back and understand how their current life situation may be affecting the eight dimensions explored in the 8Wise Model.

By identifying where pressure is building, people can begin developing a practical strategy for managing the life event and improving their overall wellbeing. You can access it the assessment here: 8Wise Assessment

Working With 8Wise

8Wise offers a range of ways to learn, grow, and build long‑term wellbeing, whether you prefer self‑guided resources, structured programmes, or working directly with a professional.

This section explains the services available, how individuals and organisations can work with 8Wise, and the different ways the method can be used in personal, educational, and workplace settings.

Where should I start with 8Wise?

For most people, the best place to begin is the 8Wise® Assessment.

The assessment is a short online tool that helps you step back and understand how the pressures you are currently experiencing may be affecting different areas of your life.

It provides an immediate report showing your current wellbeing across the eight key dimensions of the 8Wise Model, helping you see where life pressures may be building and where support or changes may be helpful.

From there, people can begin exploring the wider 8Wise Support System, which includes practical resources, tools and structured programmes designed to help people manage life events and everyday pressures more wisely.

What services does 8Wise offer?

8Wise provides a wide range of tools, resources, programmes and structured support options designed to help people understand and manage the pressures created by real life events.

Does 8Wise offer coaching or therapy?

8Wise does offer coaching-style support through its structured programmes.

The Wellbeing Programme, Business Programme and Leadership Programme can be delivered as 1:1 coaching programmes, helping individuals apply the 8Wise Method to their personal or professional lives.

However, 8Wise itself does not provide therapy services.

Therapy can be accessed separately through Kim Rutherford’s private practice, where she works as a qualified psychotherapist.

The 8Wise platform focuses on education, tools and structured life-management support, rather than clinical therapy.

Can organisations work with 8Wise?

Support may include:

• wellbeing audits

• leadership development programmes

• staff wellbeing training

• organisational wellbeing strategy support

The aim is to help organisations understand how life pressures affect staff wellbeing, leadership and workplace culture.

What is 8WiseED®?

8WiseED® is the education version of the 8Wise Method.

It adapts the framework specifically for schools, colleges and education settings, helping leaders and staff support wellbeing within education environments.

The 8WiseED® framework includes:

• staff wellbeing audits

• leadership support

• CPD training for education staff

• student wellbeing education resources

The goal is to help education settings better understand and manage the pressures affecting both staff and students.

Can schools and colleges use the 8Wise® Method?

Yes.

Schools and colleges can use the 8Wise Method through the 8WiseED® framework. Education settings can access a Workplace Wellbeing Programme that trains staff to understand and apply the 8Wise Method within their organisation. However, the 8Wise Method remains protected intellectual property.

Schools and colleges cannot create their own teaching materials or lessons based on the framework independently. All education delivery using the 8Wise Method must be developed in partnership with 8Wise, ensuring the method is used accurately and responsibly.
